Chair Yoga
for Refugees & Asylum Seekers
AFRIL .jpg

A 40 minute session of chair yoga which introduced principles of breathing, lengthening, of upper and lower body mobilisation and balance, bringing coordination challenges and lots of laughter!

The workshop was held in November 2018 at the Lewisham Salvation Army for the monthly Parents Group run by Creating Ground for AFRIL on a monthly basis. Group participants are refugees and asylum seekers whose children attend the Rainbow Club Supplementary School taking place every Saturday at St Saviour Primary School.

I attend Pilates every Sunday and I always look forward to my classes with Letizia. For me, she is very clear and concise, often using nice little analogies when explaining a move. She is a very hands on instructor always making sure that we are doing the exercise correctly and not causing injury to ourselves. The other thing I consider really important is that she often explains the benefits of each exercise and what we should be gaining as a result.  That and the fact that I always feel great afterwards is what makes her classes so beneficial and always worth going to.
